What We Do
At St Mellion Nursery we believe every child has the potential to achieve their very best. Our highly qualified and nurturing team are dedicated to provide exceptional care and education, to enable young children to flourish and become valued members of our nursery family.
Following the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS), and based on the children’s interests we plan exciting, engaging and playful activities which support children in developing the prerequisites required for positive future learning outcomes. These skills include, resilience, confidence, physical development, perseverance, independence, social and emotional well-being and communication and language.
Each week the children are given the opportunity to take part in mindfulness, ‘Wiggle and Shake' sessions, letters and sounds activities as well as creative and sensory activities. In addition to this, the children are also given the opportunity to explore and develop their learning in our outdoor nursery, where they learn about the weather, go on bug hunts and explore the natural environment.
Parent Partnership
Forming good relationships and communication with families are of upmost importance to us. We are a friendly and approachable team, who are always available for a chat at the beginning or end of each session. Furthermore, through use of Class Dojo we keep you involved in your child’s learning whilst they are at nursery. Class Dojo is an online learning journal which enables you to see your child’s progress through photographs and observations securely online. We also encourage you to add any photographs or comments about any activities or outings which you do with your child at home.
Key Worker System
Each child who attends our nursery deserves to have a special relationship with someone and the key person approach effectively celebrates this. Developing a secure attachment with their key worker allows children to feel safe within the environment, therefore enabling them to explore and play freely.
Every child at our nursery is assigned a key worker. Your key worker will generally be the person who welcomes you and your child into our nursery and supports them with settling into the session. They will also be the main practitioner carrying out the child's intimate care needs and supporting you with any concerns you may have about your child.
